If you are facing having to clear a deceased relative's property located many miles from where you live, then that distance is going to make the task even harder.

 

Additionally, the challenge of clearing a full house and outbuildings is never easy when that task has been presented to you, potentially out of the blue and just when you are juggling everything else that is taking your time each day.

 

The default position for many in this position has been to simply engage the services of a House Clearance company to simply remove everything from the property. This is a quick solution, but this method has its drawbacks, the most alarming of which is that, because you are not on hand personally,  you will have very little idea of the value of the items being removed. Plus, you could end up paying handsomely for a service within which you are literally authorising someone to remove valuable items from the property which will then be theirs to sell.

Stevens Auctioneers can produce a detailed Full Inventory of the property contents, with individual valuations for auction purposes which can be:

 

1. An important document to use when negotiating the price your house clearance so that not everything is lost.

2. A means to see if Probate should be considered with single items or collections worth more than £500.

3. A method for relatives to determine if any pieces should be set aside for their collection and ongoing personal use.

4. A means to determine​ the total worth of the contents to consider whether an online, in-situ auction is the best method of disposal, or whether specific items should go into a Specialist Sale or residue items simply cleared or donated to charity.

5. A comfort that in the event that we come across any fine jewellery, watches, precious metals, cash, share certificates or other financial information, these will be photographed and sent to you immediately for identification and to await your instructions of how to get these valuable items to you.

6. An opportunity for us to ​pre-sort through the contents prior to the house clearance to put aside obvious items of potential sentimental value (photographs, documents, banking information etc) to be posted to you if you require, or kept safe for collection at a time to suit you.

• Up to a three-bedroom, one reception room property with garage and/or shed - £295.00.

• Additional bedrooms and/or reception rooms, outbuildings or an accessible loft* - £40 per room.

(* We are unable to access a loft without a fixed ladder in situ, or one which is not fully boarded)
